As part of Houston’s first-ever Houston Fleet Week, a job fair held on April 20 brought together veterans and employers for a day focused on career connections and workforce opportunities.

Hosted by Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast in partnership with Combined Arms, Texas Veterans Network, and the Texas Veterans Commission, the event was designed to support Armed Services veterans as they transition into civilian careers.

More than 75 employers participated, representing a range of industries with immediate hiring needs. Throughout the event, hundreds of veterans had the opportunity to meet directly with recruiters, learn about available positions, and explore potential career pathways. The in-person format allowed for real-time conversations, giving both job seekers and employers a chance to make meaningful connections.

The event also highlighted the continued demand for workforce initiatives that specifically support veterans. With many employers seeking skilled and experienced talent, and veterans bringing valuable training and leadership experience, events like this serve as a bridge between the two.

The strong turnout reflects a broader effort across the region to align workforce resources with the needs of both job seekers and employers. Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast continues to expand access to employment opportunities and support long-term career success for those who have served.
