For many young adults aging out of foster care or experiencing homelessness, finding stable employment can feel overwhelming. Through a growing partnership between Angel Reach and Workforce Solutions, more young people are gaining the support, experience, and confidence needed to successfully enter the workforce.
Angel Reach, a nonprofit organization based in Conroe, serves young adults ages 18 to 24 who are at risk of homelessness due to difficult life circumstances or aging out of the foster care system. The organization provides housing support, counseling, coaching, education, and career services designed to help participants achieve independence and long-term stability.
Three years ago, Angel Reach connected with Workforce Solutions to expand opportunities for its clients through work-based learning and career readiness services. Since then, the partnership has created meaningful results for young adults preparing to take their first steps into the workforce.
“A lot of our clients didn’t have work experience, so we utilize the work-based learning program so they could have that first experience,” said Genesis, Employment Coordinator at Angel Reach. “That has helped them get into a job of their own or get hired at their work site.”
The collaboration allows Workforce Solutions staff to work directly with youth participants through workshops, career assessments, and personalized employment support. By bringing services on-site, the partnership also helps eliminate transportation barriers that many clients face.
“We have done resume workshops and interviewing workshops on site with our clients,” said Evelyn Clark, Program Manager for Career Services and Education at Angel Reach. “Being able to bring those services directly here has been great because some clients have challenges with transportation.”
The partnership is already creating momentum. According to Jonathan, a Youth Engagement and Success Coach with HCGY, several young adults have already been approved for workforce opportunities, with more participants currently in the process.
“The partnership with Angel Reach has been really amazing for both of us,” he shared. “We’re helping youth gain the training and experience they need to succeed in their careers and take that next step toward their future.”
For the organizations involved, success is measured not only by employment outcomes, but by the confidence participants gain along the way.
“Being able to feel empowered and have someone guide them through that first step into adulthood is important,” Clark said. “It helps them feel like they can tackle other challenges in their life.”
Julie Teressa, Youth Ambassador with HCGY, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping young people succeed in every area of life.
“Angel Reach has really been thinking outside the box, not only career-wise, but making sure these young adults get everything they need,” she said. “I definitely want to continue growing this partnership and see where we can go together.”
By combining workforce resources, mentorship, and hands-on opportunities, Angel Reach and Workforce Solutions are helping young adults move beyond barriers and toward successful, independent futures.
