Eleven parents are one step closer to rewarding careers in healthcare after graduating from the Multi-Generational Healthcare Career Acceleration Program, an innovative workforce initiative designed to help families build brighter futures together.
The eight-week program combines healthcare career training for parents with educational support for their children, creating a family-centered approach to workforce development that removes barriers to training while preparing participants for careers in one of the Gulf Coast region’s most in-demand industries.
The program’s latest cohort included 11 parents, all of whom participated through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services. Every participant successfully completed the program and earned a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, opening the door to employment opportunities in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare settings.
At the same time, 14 youth participated in educational and enrichment activities that provided a supportive environment while their parents completed classroom instruction and hands-on training. By addressing the needs of both generations, the program helps families pursue education and career advancement together.
The impact of the program extends beyond graduation. Surveys conducted during and after the program found that 9 of the 11 graduates plan to continue their education through WIOA scholarship opportunities. Among those participants, two expressed interest in earning additional healthcare certifications, while three are preparing to enter the workforce immediately as Certified Nursing Assistants.

By combining workforce training with family support, the initiative helps participants gain industry-recognized credentials while encouraging continued education and career advancement.
