Build Freedom Career Expo Connects Job Seekers With Manufacturing and Defense Employers

Job seekers interested in manufacturing, skilled trades and defense-related careers will have a chance to meet employers and explore training opportunities at the Build Freedom Career Expo on October 22 in Galveston.

Hosted by the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP), the Career Expo is part of the inaugural Build Freedom Summit/Defense Industrial Base Workforce Conference, taking place October 20–21 at the Galveston Island Convention Center. The Career Expo will give job seekers a direct way to connect with employers in manufacturing and related industries. Registration for the Career Expo is free.

The morning session will be reserved for CTE and high school programs. The afternoon session will be open to the public.

Attendees can:

  • Meet directly with participating employers and learn about available positions.
  • Take part in on-the-spot interviews and, where available, receive contingent job offers pending background, drug and reference checks.
  • Explore careers in machining, welding, advanced manufacturing, automation, composites and other skilled trades.
  • Learn about free or subsidized training programs.
  • Connect with training providers, educational institutions and industry partners offering apprenticeships, credentials and hands-on training.
  • Talk with employers about job requirements and career pathways.

The Career Expo is open to job seekers, career changers, high school and college students, veterans, transitioning service members and anyone interested in manufacturing careers or skilled trades.

Part of a Larger Workforce Conference

The Career Expo follows two days of programming focused on building the manufacturing workforce, strengthening the defense industrial base, advancing manufacturing innovation and developing regional workforce partnerships. The summit brings together employers, educators, workforce organizations, government and economic development leaders to discuss ways to address manufacturing workforce needs.
