The recent Turnaround Job & Readiness Fair in Houston brought together organizations from across the city, all focused on one common goal: empowering individuals with the resources, confidence, and connections they need to find meaningful employment. Among the attendees was Luke Jones of Northwest Educational Center, a local trade school. “It’s been a great event so far,” he said. “We’ve made a lot of contacts with people and we’re happy to be here.”
Also in attendance was Patrick Gil from Career Here in Houston, a 100% non-profit organization dedicated to employment services. Though it was his first time participating in Turnaround, Gil expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity. “I love Turnaround,” he said. “It helps me deliver my message. And then I can see people today getting help, that’s what it’s all about.”
Community service was also a major theme at the event, with organizations like the Franklin Institute offering support that went beyond job applications. Jason Jimon spoke proudly about giving back by offering free haircuts to attendees.
Other participants, such as Blanca from Hearts Sweat Hope Foundation, noted how valuable it was to engage with both job seekers and fellow organizations. The event served as a clear reminder of the power of local collaboration in helping people take the next step in their careers.
For many attendees, the fair wasn’t just about job opportunities; it was about building confidence, forming connections, and creating a welcoming space for those ready to make a change. The enthusiasm and commitment shown by the participating organizations underscored a shared dedication to uplifting the community.
