April 8, 2025

A massive turnout marked ABC 13’s “Who’s Hiring” job fair in Richmond on March 20th, with 995 people pre-registered for the event. Held at the George Memorial Library from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the job fair brought together more than 20 employers, all eager to connect with job seekers looking for new opportunities.

Juliet Stipeche, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, expressed enthusiasm over the overwhelming response, saying, “We help folks find better jobs and just have an opportunity to connect to the dynamic economy that exists in their own backyard.”

Since launching in the heart of the pandemic, ABC 13’s job fairs have provided crucial employment connections for thousands of Houstonians. Workforce Solutions, which has partnered with ABC 13 for nearly five years, continues to play a key role in these efforts. The organization operates 27 offices across a 13-county region, offering services such as job placement, resume building, training scholarships, and childcare assistance– all for free.

The event also featured Workforce Solutions’ “Workforce on Wheels” program, which helps job seekers prepare for interviews, refine their resumes on-site, and connect with additional employment resources. Stacy, a Workforce Solutions representative, explained the initiative’s impact: “Not everybody’s comfortable with walking into a job fair. It can be overwhelming. So what we do is help you prep for the interview, fix your resume on the spot, and even do job searches for you right then and there so that you leave here feeling like you’ve gotten something.”

The success of the job fair reaffirms the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between job seekers and employers. Thanks to media outreach efforts from ABC 13, hundreds of thousands of people have learned about Workforce Solutions’ services, leading to increased job placements and access to career support programs.

For those unable to attend, Workforce Solutions offers free services year-round through its website at WorkInTexas.com and its local offices. With events like these, the organization continues to empower individuals to connect with Houston’s dynamic job market and take the next steps in their careers.
