For employers looking to fill an open position, WorkInTexas.com offers more than a place to post a job. The state’s workforce database allows employers to post openings, search for candidates, access labor market information and connect with Workforce Solutions staff.
In a recent Workforce Solutions podcast episode, Crosby Breto explained how employers can use the platform and where to turn for help.
It’s Free to Employers
One of the biggest reasons for employers to use WorkInTexas is simple: there is no cost.
“It is free. No cost to access talent, to post your jobs, to search for qualified candidates, to access labor market information, labor market data.”
Employers can search for candidates across Texas and post jobs based on the ZIP code where they are hiring. The platform also includes candidate matching, résumé searches and other integrated tools.
WorkInTexas is available 24 hours a day, and employers can also use a virtual recruiting option to help match candidates based on their hiring needs.
When Should Employers Post a Job?
Breto recommends using WorkInTexas as soon as an employer knows there is an opening.
“So, as soon as you know you have an opening, just like you would post your job on your internal website or you would at any other job platform, go to WorkInTexas and, again, give it a try there.”
After posting a job, employers can choose to work directly with a Workforce Solutions recruiter. This can be especially useful for employers hiring a large number of people. Workforce Solutions can also help employers set up a hiring event based on their needs.
Having Trouble With Your Account?
Employers who cannot access an existing WorkInTexas account do not have to stop the hiring process.
Breto explained that companies sometimes already have a WorkInTexas profile, even when a new HR or recruiting employee is trying to set one up. If the system shows that the company already has an account or that its identification number is already in use, employers can contact Workforce Solutions through wrksolutions.com.
“We will get that and post a job for you in WorkInTexas. That way, there’s no delay, and that way, you don’t feel like you have to put that on top of your agenda.”
Workforce Solutions staff can help get the job posted and follow up with the employer once it is posted.
More Than a Job Posting
Breto encourages employers to explore the other tools available through WorkInTexas instead of using the platform only to post an opening. Employers can use the platform to search for candidates, access labor market information, and connect with Workforce Solutions staff and recruiters.
