A collaborative effort between Workforce Solutions, Compassion United, and local business Tiff’s Nifty Thrifts is helping job seekers build confidence and prepare for employment opportunities through career readiness support and community involvement.
As part of a pilot program connected to Compassion United, Workforce Solutions staff worked with a cohort of participants on job search preparation, interview skills, and resume development. The program focused on helping individuals strengthen the tools needed to navigate the job market successfully.
Nikita, a Career Adviser with the Conroe Workforce Solutions office currently supporting the community engagement team, said the group participated in seminars designed to teach participants how to approach the job search process strategically.
The partnership also expanded beyond workshops and career guidance. To help participants prepare professionally for interviews, Workforce Solutions reached out to Tiff’s Nifty Thrifts, a neighboring local business that immediately stepped in to support the effort by donating interview attire for the cohort.
Tiffany, owner of Tiff’s Nifty Thrifts, said supporting the initiative was an easy decision because of her commitment to giving back to the community and helping individuals in need.
For organizers, the support from local businesses plays an important role in encouraging participants throughout the job search process. Beyond practical resources, community involvement helps individuals feel supported and valued during what can often be a stressful and discouraging experience.
Nikita emphasized that job searching itself can feel like a full-time job, and having encouragement from multiple community partners can make a significant difference in helping participants stay motivated and confident.
