Heskamp was motivated to join the board to better understand workforce programs and help share those resources with employers across the region. As a former employer, he recognizes how valuable these initiatives can be for businesses and job seekers alike.
“I wanted to serve on the board to learn more about the various programs that are available to Houston and surrounding areas for the employers. As a former employer, it is important to me that the work gets out to as many people as possible about all the wonderful things that the Gulf Coast Workforce Board helps facilitate,” Heskamp said.
Looking ahead, Heskamp sees significant opportunity for workforce growth in the Houston area, particularly because of the region’s strong talent pool.
“I think we are blessed with a lot of wonderful natural resources here in Houston, primarily talent… there’s a real opportunity to match employers with employees and improve everyone’s lot in life.”
Outside of his professional work, Heskamp enjoys spending time outdoors and embracing adventure. From backpacking and hiking to diving and canoeing, he values activities that keep him active and connected to nature. He’s also a licensed pilot who enjoys flying his private airplane.
