Cheryl Guido has dedicated nearly three decades to helping individuals with disabilities build meaningful, independent lives through employment. As one of the managers for vocational rehabilitation services at Workforce Solutions, she has spent 28 years walking alongside people as they prepare to secure and maintain jobs.
Through vocational rehabilitation, Cheryl supports individuals with disabilities in developing the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce. “Serving people with disabilities, helping them be independent to get a job and maintain a job,” she says, is at the heart of what she does. That long-standing commitment to inclusion and opportunity has shaped not only her profession, but also her leadership.
Eleven years ago, Cheryl took her passion a step further by joining the board of Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast. Becoming a board member had been a goal of hers for a long time. She describes it with pride, noting that it is the largest workforce board in the United States and, in her view, the best in Texas. Serving the 13 counties that make up the Gulf Coast region, the board plays a critical role in connecting people to employment and helping them achieve independence.
For Cheryl, being part of something that creates opportunity on such a large scale is deeply meaningful. She values the impact the board has across Houston and the surrounding Gulf Coast area, providing support, resources, and pathways to employment for individuals and families throughout the region. Being involved in work that strengthens communities and supports independence, she says, is “such a great feeling.”
Outside of her professional and board responsibilities, Cheryl finds joy in simple, grounding activities. She loves to garden and spend time outdoors. Whether she’s taking her dog for walks or heading out for a hike, she embraces time in nature as a way to recharge and stay balanced.
Cheryl Guido embodies the mission of workforce development: service, empowerment, and community impact. Through decades of dedication to vocational rehabilitation and more than a decade of board leadership, she continues to help shape a region where opportunity is accessible and independence is possible for all.
