Joyce Johnson brings a powerful blend of experience, purpose, and global perspective to her role on the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. An eight-time author, speaker, sales champion, and coach, she has built a career centered on helping individuals and organizations grow and now channels that passion into advancing workforce development.

With a 25-year background in sales and B2B business development, Johnson has spent much of her professional life helping companies expand their reach and succeed within larger organizational structures. That experience laid the foundation for her current focus: equipping people with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s evolving workforce.

Her path to the board reflects a long-standing commitment to workforce initiatives. After working with workforce programs in the past and engaging with efforts like the Texas Internship Initiative, Johnson deepened her involvement by joining both the Education Committee and the Career Development Committee. Her work is driven by a clear focus on supporting individuals—especially young people—as they transition from college into the professional world. “I really focus on helping young people upskill and help them with their professional development,” she shared, emphasizing the importance of preparing individuals not just for their first job, but for long-term career growth.

At the heart of Johnson’s work is her “why”—a deeply personal motivation rooted in the next generation. Reflecting on her niece’s recent college graduation, she expressed hope for a future where opportunities are abundant and workplaces are truly people-focused.

Looking ahead, Johnson sees workforce development as a critical driver of broader economic stability. She believes that the work being done through the board has the potential to create meaningful change, particularly in preparing young people for the demands of a global economy. For her, building stronger systems and processes today is essential to shaping a more resilient and inclusive workforce for the future.

Outside of her work with the board, Johnson’s passion for empowerment extends far beyond her local community. A strong advocate for global citizenship, she has led initiatives in the Bahamas focused on helping women strengthen their skill sets and explore new paths for growth.

She also works with college students through sports leadership programs, encouraging them to look beyond athletics and embrace a broader sense of purpose. By organizing opportunities for students to travel, volunteer, and engage with different cultures, Johnson fosters what she describes as “compassionate global citizens”—individuals who are not only driven but also deeply aware of and connected to the world around them.

Joyce Johnson’s work reflects a consistent and unwavering belief in people’s potential and their ability to shape the future. Whether mentoring young professionals, supporting women or contributing to workforce strategy at the board level, she remains focused on creating pathways that empower others to reach the next level in their careers and lives.
