Earning an industry-recognized credential is an important milestone, but it’s only part of the journey to employment. To help participants transition from training to the workforce, the Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast North Career and Education team recently hosted a Graduate Career Readiness Event at the Cypress Station Career Office.
The event brought together graduates of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) training programs for a day focused on practical job search preparation. After completing their workforce training, participants worked with staff to strengthen their resumes, receive job search guidance, and connect with community organizations that support individuals entering the workforce.
Representatives from Dress for Success and Career Gear were on hand to provide information about professional attire and resources that can help graduates feel prepared for interviews and new careers.
One of the day’s most popular activities was a professional headshot session. Graduates received updated headshots they can use on resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and other professional materials as they begin applying for jobs.
The event also recognized the commitment participants demonstrated throughout their training. By combining career services with community resources, graduates left with updated resumes, professional photographs, access to interview attire, and additional tools to support their job search.
