Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast introduced a new service model at a community meeting held Tuesday night at the Anderson Center for the Arts, located at 13334 Wallisville Road in North Shore. The initiative aims to expand access to workforce services through co-locations, community partnerships, and pop-up sites, bringing critical employment resources directly into the community.
Juliet Stipeche, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board and Workforce Solutions, emphasized the importance of ensuring residents are aware of available opportunities. “We want our community to know about the resources that exist—job-seeking services, resume and interview assistance, scholarships, youth programs, and real job opportunities, especially in high-skill, high-growth industries,” she said.
The enhanced service model is guided by the newly developed Strategic Plan for 2024-2029, which is built on four key pillars:
- Increasing Awareness of Services and Opportunities
- Improve Service Delivery Utilizing Technology and Innovative Solutions
- Serve as a Convener and Forge Strategic Partnerships
- Support Business-Forward Strategies to Fuel the Regional Economy
“We want to be wherever the people are, where communities gather,” said Russell Tomlin, Senior Manager of Career Services. “Our teams are ready to take services directly to the people, and we have a lot to offer.”
As part of this initiative, Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast is collaborating with community partners in the North Shore area to align efforts and enhance access to core workforce services, which include:
- Job Matching
- Career Counseling
- Training Programs
- Digital Access
The Anderson Center for the Arts, which hosted this inaugural community meeting, could become a key partner in these efforts. A BIPOC-founded and led nonprofit, ACA is dedicated to expanding arts access in underserved communities while amplifying the voices and work of Black artists.
This meeting marks the beginning of a series of community engagements aimed at strengthening Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast’s outreach and impact. By integrating workforce services into local gathering spaces, the organization seeks to empower more residents with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s job market.
