Workforce Solutions will celebrate participants and workforce partners at the upcoming Summer Earn and Learn (S.E.A.L.) On August 6, 2026, Hire Gulf Coast Youth (HGCY), in partnership with Houston Community College (HCC), will host the SEAL Celebration and Career Exploration Event to recognize the accomplishments of students who successfully participated in the Summer Earn and Learn (SEAL) program while connecting them to future education and career opportunities.
The event will celebrate participants’ achievements throughout their paid work-based learning experiences and reinforce the importance of continued career planning beyond the summer. Students, families, employers, and community partners will come together to recognize the skills, confidence, and workplace experiences participants gained through the program.
As part of the career exploration experience, Houston Community College will showcase a variety of educational and workforce training pathways available to students after high school. Participants will learn about high-demand programs that align with the Gulf Coast region’s workforce needs and receive information on credentials, certificates, and degree options designed to support long-term career success.
A featured component of the event will highlight BioPath – TMC Innovation initiative, introducing students to the rapidly growing biotechnology and biomanufacturing industries. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on simulation activities, participants will explore emerging careers that are helping shape the future of healthcare, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing in the Gulf Coast region. These experiences will provide students with firsthand exposure to innovative technologies, laboratory processes, and career pathways that many may not have previously considered.
Beyond celebrating program completion, the event is designed to serve as a bridge between work-based learning, postsecondary education, and employment by helping students understand how their summer experiences can translate into future career opportunities. The partnership between HGCY and Houston Community College reflects a shared commitment to expanding career awareness, increasing access to high-growth industries, and strengthening the Gulf Coast region’s future workforce pipeline through meaningful education and industry connections.
