Carl Bowles brings decades of financial expertise and a personal commitment to service to his role on the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. After spending most of his career in accounting, Bowles now contributes his experience and perspective to help support workforce initiatives across the region.
“I spent most of my working career as a CPA firm owner… and before that, I worked for another CPA firm owner. That pretty much sums up my professional career.”
Bowles joined the board after being encouraged by a colleague, but his connection to workforce development reaches back much further. He recalls a formative experience in high school, when a mentor helped him and other young men find summer jobs, including an opportunity to work with NASA.
“…one of my scoutmasters… got jobs for us, and I’m fortunate enough to work with NASA in the summer. Which was a really exciting experience…”
That early experience shaped his appreciation for programs that connect people to opportunity, something he now helps support through his board service.
Outside of his professional and board work, Bowles is focusing on family as he transitions into retirement. He’s especially grateful for the opportunity to spend more time with his adult son.
“I’m somewhat transitioning into retirement… I have an adult son that’s nonverbal and autistic and blind… I’m getting to spend some time with him now.”
Carl Bowles brings both professional experience and personal perspective to the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. His journey reflects a lifelong appreciation for opportunity, mentorship, and the importance of supporting individuals and families across the region.
