Sandra Taylor’s journey into workforce development began long before she opened the doors of Tiny Toes Academy. As a former assistant principal at a high school, Taylor saw firsthand how students could meet every classroom requirement yet still be stopped short by standardized testing. “They had completed all their schoolwork, and they couldn’t pass the state test,” she explained. Watching students return years later, unable to receive diplomas despite their effort and ability, led her to question the system itself, not the students.
That realization sparked a pivotal shift in her career. Taylor began asking a simple but powerful question: What if support started earlier? Her answer was early childhood education. By stepping into this space, she aimed to help children build a strong foundation long before they reached the testing pressures of high school. Today, as the owner of Tiny Toes Academy, she sees that vision coming to life, sharing that her students are “doing really amazing.”
At the heart of Taylor’s work is a deep commitment to people. Her “why,” she says, is rooted in serving children, families, and the broader community. Over time, that purpose has expanded to include teachers and parents as well. “When you’re educating just the child, bringing in a whole family, you are bringing in everything,” she shared. For Taylor, education is not isolated—it’s interconnected, and its impact reaches far beyond the classroom walls.
Looking ahead, Taylor is hopeful about the future of the workforce, especially when it comes to early childhood education. She believes meaningful change starts well before elementary school. By instilling growth, positivity, and essential skills as early as possible, she sees a clear and promising path forward. As she put it, the trajectory from there is “definitely nothing but upward.”
Outside of her professional life, Taylor draws strength from her faith and describes herself as a firm believer in God. She also admits that shopping is one of her favorite pastimes, though she jokes it might be best not to tell her husband.
