Jennifer Baker has dedicated nearly four decades to education, building a career centered on helping students succeed both inside and outside the classroom. As the Director of Career and Technical Education for Alief Independent School District, she works to ensure students graduate with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need for the future.

Over the years, Baker has served in many roles across K–12 education, including teaching and school leadership. Today, her work focuses on creating direct connections between education and the workforce, helping students prepare for careers, certifications, and college pathways.

“To be a part of the board… has been a connection between education and the workforce… when they graduate from high school and they want a job right out of high school, I’ve got people I can call.”

For Baker, serving on the Gulf Coast Workforce Board has reinforced the importance of creating opportunities not only for students but also for adults across the region who may be seeking a new path or a second chance.

“It’s really been amazing to be on the board because of what we’re doing for the community… just giving people the opportunity to find work… and the ability to get into a place where people are going to be helping them.”

Outside of work, Baker enjoys two favorite pastimes: traveling and golfing. Whether she’s catching a flight or spending time on the golf course, she embraces every opportunity for adventure and relaxation.

“I golf every chance I can and/or travel… if I’m not traveling and golfing, I’m going to one or the other.”

Jennifer Baker’s passion for education and workforce development continues to make an impact on students, families, and the broader Gulf Coast community. Through her leadership, she helps create pathways that connect learning with lasting opportunity.
