Rachel Cevallos de Gonzalez brings the perspective of a small business owner and community advocate to her role on the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. She is the president and owner of Identity Plus, a brand marketing company in Houston’s historic East End, and her own experience as an entrepreneur helped her recognize how valuable workforce resources can be for the community.
As someone who started a business without knowing these services were available, Cevallos de Gonzalez joined the board with a desire to help more people discover the resources that can support their careers and businesses.
“What brought me to the board is all the services that you provide that I know are so needed in our community because I was young and starting a business and didn’t even know these services existed.”
For Cevallos de Gonzalez, workforce development goes beyond connecting someone with a job. She sees the board’s work as an opportunity to provide people with tools that can create lasting change for individuals, families, and future generations.
“It’s not just about getting someone a job. It’s about changing lives. It’s about giving them tools and it is a generational impact that we are having with the workforce board.”
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Cevallos de Gonzalez stays closely connected to the community she calls home. She is involved with the League of United Latin American Citizens and spends much of her time participating in community work and enjoying time with friends and family.
Through her work as a business owner, community advocate, and board member, Rachel Cevallos de Gonzalez is helping bring greater awareness to workforce resources and the opportunities they can create. Her own experience showed her the importance of knowing where to find those resources, and she now works to help make sure others know they are there.
