As Vice Chair of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, Bobbie Henderson brings a thoughtful, people-centered approach to workforce development. A retired professor from Texas Southern University, Henderson now dedicates her time and experience to supporting initiatives that create opportunities and improve lives across the region.
“I am a retired professor from Texas Southern University, thoroughly enjoying retirement, and now I can focus on workforce solutions.”
Henderson’s path to the board began with a recommendation, but what started as a new opportunity quickly became a meaningful commitment. As she became more involved, she recognized the profound impact the board has on individuals and families throughout the community.
“You realize that you are impacting others’ lives… we impact thousands and thousands of lives by opening doors of opportunity for them… and put the human back into human resources to make it work for them and improve their lives.”
Her perspective reflects a deep belief in service and the importance of creating opportunities that help people build better futures.
Outside of her board service, Henderson is embracing retirement with energy and enthusiasm. From staying active to trying new activities, she’s making the most of this new chapter.
“I’m loving retirement… I swim… take aerobics classes… yoga classes… tai chi classes… and then I line dance.”
Through her leadership as Vice Chair, Bobbie Henderson continues to help shape workforce solutions that prioritize opportunity, compassion, and meaningful impact. Her commitment to putting people first reflects the heart of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board’s mission.
