The Fleet Week VetConnect Career Exploration Event took place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at San Jacinto College Central’s LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical Energy and Technology in Pasadena. Hosted by Workforce Solutions and Combined Arms, the event brought together service members, veterans, and military spouses for a day focused on career exploration and workforce connections.
Held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event welcomed attendees looking to transition into civilian careers or explore new professional opportunities. Participants had the opportunity to connect directly with employers, training providers, and community organizations offering support tailored to the military community.
As expected, more than 50 employers and organizations representing high-demand industries participated in the event. These industries included energy and petrochemicals, maritime and transportation, construction and skilled trades, public safety and government, manufacturing and engineering, and healthcare and community services. Employers such as Tesla, Bechtel, Waste Management, the City of Houston, Harris Health, TC Energy, Acadian Ambulance, METRO, and the Texas Department of Transportation were among those present, providing information on career pathways and available opportunities.
Throughout the event, attendees engaged with recruiters, explored training options, and accessed resources designed to support successful career transitions. The event created valuable networking opportunities and highlighted pathways into in-demand careers across the Houston region.
