As part of its Who’s Hiring partnership with ABC13, Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast highlighted how apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs are preparing the region’s workforce for in-demand careers in the skilled trades

Executive Director Juliet Stipeche discussed how Workforce Solutions works with employers, unions, and training providers to expand access to skilled trades careers while helping employers build the workforce they need. She was joined by Juan Granado, a training coordinator for the Apprenticeship Readiness Program/Multi-Craft Core Curriculum program (ARP/MC3), and Paul Puente of the Houston Gulf Coast Building & Construction Trades Council and Ryan Schuette, Business Manager for the Elevator Construction Union (IUEC 31), who explained how the program prepares participants for entry into Registered Apprenticeships.

The livestream also included Brent Whitmire of TK Elevator and Jose Camargo, a TK Elevator apprentice. Brent discussed the company’s approach to developing skilled workers through Registered Apprenticeships, while Jose shared his experience entering the elevator industry, the training he received, and how the program helped launch his career.
